So this past weekend we had our first craft show. We went in with the expectation of not selling a single item, but the hopes of selling everything. Our whole mindset was to have fun, do the best we could with what we had, figure out what sold, what didn’t, what we forgot that we really needed (tablecloths), and what we could do better next time. It was definitely a learning experience!
As soon as we got there we realized that our location wasn’t the best. We were placed at one end of the mall, in an area just past the normal entrance / exit point. While we did have a few customers come by looking at all the booths, the number of people we saw leaving without even coming toward the five vendors setup at our end was tenfold.
During setup, we realized that the tablecloths were in the dryer, so I ran back home to get them. That was one thing that everyone on the craft selling forums seemed to mention… make sure you have tablecloths. They definitely came in handy too as we were able to store our supplies under the table without it looking messy. IN the end, it was a long day, but a good day. Fun, but not very profitable. Hopefully, the next show will be a bring a bit more padding to the pocketbook.
